I don’t understand this post. I must not be getting something basic here.

Nice win. Should be a great Europa League match this week when you guys face Atletico Madrid.

Thanks, Shane. I watched the highlights again this morning. Every one of our goals looked like it had been choreographed. Beautiful stuff. Consistency has been a concern, but we can face Atletico with a good amount of confidence. Hopefully there will be reason for it to carry over to next matchday.

Struck me as odd too that Helmes got left home and Cacau/Gomez were nominated instead. Helmes always struck me as someone who could finsih their chances or at least put a powerful shot on target. Hey at least Tasci and Trochowski are home.

Now how about that Sidney Sam? Saw him against Madrid and he has looked explosive. Plus again like Helmes has balls to shoot well when the opportunity arises. Any noises who he wants to represent at senior level?

There are a good number of decisions Jogi makes that leave people mystified. Helmes commented that he thinks he’s better off not trying to understand Löw’s reasons. I’d say that if Helmes continues performing as he as, Löw would definitely call him to the squad again, but I’ve seen in the past that that’s not necessarily true. It probably doesn’t help that the Leverkusen management have thrown barbs Jogi’s way over call-ups, considering the way our NT coach likes to hold a grudge.

Sam has certainly made a case for himself and I expect he’ll also be one Löw will have to acknowledge at some point. I could be mistaken, but I think Sam doesn’t hold dual-citizenship, which would rule him out for Nigeria altogether. Either way, though, he’s proudly worn the Black-Red-Gold in the U19 and U21, so there’s no reason to think he’d have any aversion to continuing up the ladder. Were he overlooked too often, it might influence him the other way.

hey…greatly written…simon rolfes rocks- when it comes to the NT, I prefer him over Khedira and even to some extent over Schweini…..I just hope he doesn’t get injured again….

Don’t worry, no way on earth Bayer would lose in that manner again against Moenchengladbach. I suppose in last encounter, all planets position are in straight line.

sad to say that’s true about Schalke’s defence… we cannot cope with fast attacking play.

Oh my dog, what a goal by Sidney Sam there!!! The power, the trajectory, the placement of the ball, fantastic. His first goal is good tbh, but looks pale in comparison to his second.

A little question, is he eligible to play for another country beside Germany? I’m gonna hate it if he become Choupo-Moting 2.0 or Ekici 2.0, played his trade with Germany youth team only to crossing over to another country after all experience he had with Germany.

In a post-match interview yesterday, Sam told Sueddeutsche Zeitung that he’d love to be called up to the German National Team, which shows at least where his interests are.

He’s of Nigerian descent, but German by birth. I haven’t seen anywhere that he holds dual citizenship, though we all know sometimes football excellence is enough to earn a person a passport.

Show dogs -ehh? The Leverkusen fans might expect a ounding for their singing about pulling Bayern’s lederhosen down..:) But hey, I really like Leverkusen despite being a Bayern fan- but Bayern needs the win and since bayer doesn’t have to worry about going out of the top three or four, I would rather that bayern wins it…:)

Leverkusen seems to be missing something. It has excellent young players, but they seem to play without conviction. May be time to get a new coach. And a new defender too. Hope Ballack can help the team when he finally plays.

Was there any reason Hyppiä wasn’t on the pitch?

Those 5 minutes were very painful to watch and I cannot help but think how different the game would have been if we had two center backs like Subotic and Hummels.

No reason I’ve read so far, Dan.

Heynckes has said that he’s in part to blame for the loss, and that he intended to make changes if we went one behind. It’s likely he didn’t anticipate giving up three in five minutes. Why he didn’t make changes at half-time, though, can only fall into the list of the many mistakes we made with the encounter. Onward and upward, right?

Well, that wasnt quite the game I’d hoped for. My requests apparently went unheeded by the team.

Next time, Scott, Die Fohlen will put up a better fight. With any luck.

I’m actually a bit wary of Stuttgart, Bremen and Wolfsburg with the positions that they are in. They should be desperate for points! I say should, but everyone knows what those three have been like this season.

I really enjoyed Michael Ballack’s performance!

I would like to see us win at least 5 out of our last 7 games to solidify 2nd or even put some pressure on Dortmund at the top, who have been slipping of late.

Leverkusen looked great on Sunday, and as you say, it was vital for us to pick up all three points. After the break next week, B04 play FCK (that one should be winnable, especially with our away form), and Dortmund play Hannover. I will be rooting for Die Roten for the first time in a long time.

    Lang lebe die Werkself!

The FCK match is actually one I’m most concerned about. The Devils have always managed to keep themselves from losing to us in Fritz-Walter. I’m not sure we’ve ever beat them in an away match, actually. (Confirmation for or against that claim welcome.)
It is winnable- after seeing our work this past week-end, why would anyone doubt that- but I wouldn’t be too surprised if we were held to a draw. Note, that’s “too surprised,” not “too disappointed.”

    HI, Scott,

Shame on this team and the coach. I still don’t understand how this become. wrong strategy, wrong players, or bad luck?

I can’t believe this is the leverkusen i’ve seen in this season. Anyway, I hope one day we’ll no more neverkusen again.
Hope it won’t affect our player. After all, there’s still 4 matches to go. We’re 6 points ahead.
